College of Korean Medicine

SJU College of Korean Medicine, established in 1988, has produced some 1,800 graduates over the past three decades, and there are around 360 current students. Korean medicine doctors who have graduated from SNU are either working in the academic field as university professors and researchers or running their own hospitals and clinics, thereby contributing to further advancement of Korean medicine and promotion of public health. As the one and only college of Korean medicine in Gangwon-do Province, SJU College of Korean Medicine is one of the top colleges of its kind in the country, and the affiliated Korean medicine hospital is recognized as one of the leading medical institutions in the field of Korean medicine in Gangwon-do, Gyeonggi-do, and Chungcheongbuk-do provinces. The Korean medicine hospital of the university is dedicated to providing clinical training to the undergrads and fostering competent professionals with the ability to prevent and treat diseases that will rise in prevalence and incidence in a superaged society.

SJU Department of Korean Medicine has acquired the certification for Korean medicine education given by the Institute of Korean Medicine Education & Evaluation.

    Department of Pre-Korean Medicine Studies

    Program Description

    The College of Korean Medicine aims to foster competent traditional Korean medicine doctors who can pass on and further develop the traditional medicine of the East and contributing to improving the health of mankind.
    Theoretical education and clinical training are provided in a balanced manner, and research is carried out to find ways to better prevent and treat adult diseases, environmental diseases and a variety of other illnesses affecting seniors.
    The utility of Korean medicine and related technology is being enhanced to prepare for changes in the disease patterns in the future, and new models for industry-academic cooperation are being presented by transferring research findings and outcomes to enterprises and commercializing treatment technology.
