Department of Korean Language and Literature
The Department of Korean Language and Literature nurtures creative talents with exceptional proficiency in the Korean language, Korean literature, as well as Korean culture, which has developed over the course of thousands of years. By combining applied disciplines with pure academics, the department is endeavoring to unleash the boundless potential of Korean literature and culture and disseminate our heritage across the world.
Connecting with the world without any barriers!
The Department of English provides a higher concentration of English language by offering practical-oriented courses such as English Speech or English Grammar. This program offers a variety of literature classes to develop critical skills of reading and creative writing and also interpretation and translation courses to develop technical skills of interpretation and translation related to English. Students will be given an opportunity to deepen their understanding of English learning and culture.
Taking a step toward the world stage with an understanding of China!
The Department of Chinese Studies imparts practical knowledge and skills related to the Chinese economy, society, culture, etc. required of professionals working in relation to China, in addition to helping students improve their Chinese language proficiency.
Communicating with creative content in the digital age!
The Department of Cultural Content nurtures cultural content creators with excellent creativity and practical skills. Experts from various fields share their practical skills applicable in the field, based on knowledge in the areas of the humanities and social sciences as well as mythologies, a repository of human imagination.
Nurturing experts on Asia with a global mindset!
The Department of International Relations in Asia teaches students about the cases of research on Asia and international organizations, cooperation, and affairs in Asia, based on theories of international relations, in response to the trend of increased exchanges among countries in Asia and the government’s New Southern Policy. The objective of the department is to cultivate experts on the Asian region and next-generation leaders in the global era.
Creating a warm society as cool-headed individuals!
The Department of Police Studies and Law aims to foster competent professionals in law enforcement and related areas by instilling them with the value of respecting the dignity and worth of all people and a sound view of the law. For this purpose, the department runs the Police Officer Training Track to foster police officers, detectives, and judicial officers, the Administrative Officer Training Track to cultivate public servants in general public administration, and Higher Education and Employment Track to help students further their studies in law school or find employment at a public corporation or a regular enterprise. Since 1963, graduates from the Department of Police Studies and Law have gone on to become professors, lawyers, labor attorneys, judicial scriveners, public officials, entrepreneurs, politicians and so on, and they are contributing to social development in their respective areas.
Fostering students into competent non-commissioned officers!
The department has entered into an agreement with the military to offer education and training to outstanding non-commissioned officers chosen by the military. The courses are aimed at helping the trainees develop professional skills as commanding officers and also adjust to life in the military.

The Department of Public Administration offers a wide variety of courses centering on the practical affairs relating to the operations of national and local government agencies concerning policies, organization, personnel, finance, local governance and so on. By equipping students with in-depth knowledge and practical skills, the department helps them become better abled to work in a government agency, government investment agency, financial institution, media agency, etc.

Real estate studies is an applied discipline centering on an area where humans cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) even in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It provides students with essential knowledge and core skills related to real estate, which serves as housing and an important part of people’s assets. Real estate studies is a discipline that fuses together studies of development activities based on urban planning as well as the economic, technical and policy aspects of asset management.

The Department of Social Welfare Studies fosters students into competent social workers to meet the needs of Korean society, which has been undergoing rapid growth and change over the past four decades. In order to help students become competent professionals and leaders of society, the department runs a student-advisor program and a club-advisor program to allow students to explore diverse areas of social welfare and maintain academic mentee-mentor relationships with professors.

The Department of Media and Advertising offers specialization programs in Media as well as Advertising and Promotion. Equipped with a wide variety of training equipment and materials, including high-tech cameras, studios, editing rooms, and labs, the department fosters students into professionals with knowledge of related theories and practical skills.

The Department of Early Childhood Education runs character education and capacity building programs that help students build the kind of character and expertise necessary to become competent teachers for young children.

The Department of Military Science, as the sole department of its kind in the Gangwon region, which is located directly adjacent to North Korea, is contributing to the strengthening of national security by serving as a cradle for military experts and commissioned officers who will lead the future of unified Korea. Based on a practical and efficient education system, the department aims to help nurture core competencies as military experts in its students.

The Department of Education aims to produce teachers who are filled with love of humanity, have admirable character, and are proud and passionate about what they do. The department imparts basic knowledge in education to its students, lays the groundwork for education in Korea, and gives a chance for students to pursue academic activities that allow them to put theories into practice. Students can gain a better understanding of the field through teaching practicums and volunteer activities.
